Barkeria scandens

Bark. scandens is a deciduous epiphytic (grows on plants) and lithophytic (grows on rocks) orchid found in Mexico. This species typically grows on trees at elevation (3000-6000 ft). In the winter (or cooler months) it loses its leaves and mostly resembles a dead stick since it has slender stalk-like growths. The plant displays beautiful pink flowers in spring to summer months as it emerges with new growth. The flowers on this plant (and a few other) get a nice rubra (red) hue to their leaves when provided high light. 

We sell these as bare root in a net pot.. they will do excellently mounted on almost anything!

• 4 inch - These are divisions of our specimen adult plants. They are blooming size and should bloom after the next winter season from new growths.
