This is a primary hybrid between the coerulea forms of two lovely Brazilian species. Cattleya warneri var. coerulea is a cornerstone within blue cattleya breeding that has baby blue flowers with a darker blue lip. Cattleya intermedia var. aquinii coerulea is a lovely mid-sized bifoliate that has baby-blue flowers with a darker slate-colored lip and the heavy aquinii flaring on the petals. The resulting hybrid produces a compact plant with beautiful blue flowers. The flower picture is from one of our first bloomed plants from this hybrid.
